力如千斤壓頂,勁似利箭穿革
Power is like half a ton bearing down on the top, strength as a sharp arrow piercing leather.
On has to be heavy as well as penetrating.
Power comes from a relaxed, hence heavy, body.
Strength comes from relaxed, hence light, organs.
Power uses the fascia elasticity.
Strength comes from vitality, hence from healthy organs.
Heavy and piercing also come from the capacity to bounce.
頂 also means crown of the head and carrying on the head.
力如千斤壓頂 alternate meaning as “power is like half a ton bearing on the crown of the head” has to be linked with 勁从足下起, “strength comes from the feet”.
Body power steered by the head, organs strength by the feet. Still, the waist remains what leads.
